Does anyone else's family seem to completely lack that "appropriate thing to say" filter? Well, my family, namely my 73 year old Grandmother, who I love dearly. She's helped me in countless ways throughout my life. But wow. Sometimes she just says things SO offensive I want to go hide in my room with a razor blade crying.
Take the other day for example. I have a decidedly "feminine" shape to my body, what is called the "Hourglass shape." I've had it for a while, never paid much mind to it. But that, along with my general skinniness, lack of athletic ability and penchant for many "girly" things apparently. So, my Gramma looks at me and blurts out:
"You;d think, with how active you were when you were little, you'd be more of a man now."
Wow. Uh. Yeah. Ouch.
Things like this get said a lot in my family. I think insults are how we show affection.
In other news...
I doubt any of you will actually care, but a few weeks back I went to an on-campus meeting at Baker College, and I found out, because my family is so damn broke and I'm a student with a 3.7 cumulative GPA, I can basically go to college for free (The cost of books even included thanks to some kickass scholarship money I'm getting.
No one in my immediate family went to college. I'd be the first. It's pretty special to me.
I'm going to become an American History Teacher, for anyone who cares. It'll be epic. And I'm just months away from the college life. it oughta be pretty hardcore.
This is all I got for now. Viva
